BOWL TYPE CARBURETORS ARE INSTALLED ON
90% OF MOST NEW ENGINES,KOHLER, BRIGGS,
KAWASAKI AND MOST OTHERS.AFTER THREE OR
FOUR YEARS OF OPERATION, MOISTURE BUILDS
UP IN BOWL AND THUS YOU HAVE WATER IN THE
BOWL, CAUSING ENGINE TO RUN ROUGH OR NOT
AT ALL.
UNDERNEATH BOWL IS A SOLONOID, OR NUT ON
OLDER MODELS. YOU WILL NEED TO LOOSEN
AND UNSCREW NUT [ MAKE SURE TO
DISCONNECT FUEL LINE, OR TURN FUEL
CUTTOFF VALVE OFF BEFORE REMOVING BOWL
NUT]. IF YOU DONT HAVE CUTOFF VALVE YOU
WILL HAVE TO PLUG FUEL LINE OR DRAIN FUEL
INTO A CONTAINER.
IF BOWL HAS A SOLONOID, UNPLUG WIRES AND
INSERT WRENCH, SEE TOP PHOTO, UNSCREW
EITHER IT OR NUT WHICH EVER YOU HAVE.
SOMETIMES IT WILL BE NECCESARY TO BUMP
BOWL WITH WRENCH TO LOOSEN IT, SINCE OVER
TIME IT WILL BECOME STUCK. TAKE BOWL OFF
AND CLEAN OUT TO YOUR SATISFACTION. YOU
WILL NEED A HALF INCH WRENCH OR SEVEN
SIXTEENTHS WRENCH OR 10MM DEPENDING ON
TYPE OF ENGINE CARB IS ON.
IF EQUIPPED WITH SOLONOID PLUG WIRES INTO
IT WHILE OFF BOWL AND TURN IGNITION SWITCH
ON, YOU SHOULD HEAR A CLICK AND THE PIN IN
THE END IF IT SHOULD DETRACT,IF IT DOESN'T
DETRACT REPLACE IT OR SNIP THE PIN OFF EVEN
WITH THREADS,AS WAS DONE IN SECOND PHOTO
INSTALL BOWL , TIGHTEN NUT OR SOLONOID
HOOK FUEL LINE BACK. IF ENGINE DOES NOT
START WITH GOOD SPARK, MOST LIKELY YOU
HAVE INTERNAL ENGINE PROBLEMS. SHOP TIME,
BUT FEEL CONFIDENT YOU HAVE MADE SOME
COMMON CHECKS.  

NOTE; ON TECUMSEH AND CERTAIN JAPANESE
ENGINES THE FUEL BOWL NUT WILL HAVE SMALL
HOLES ON THE SIDE OF THE THREADS THAT
MUST BE UNCLOGGED; USE A NEEDLE OR SMALL
PIECE OF WIRE TO UNCLOG,
ESPECIALLY COMMON ON SEARS PUSHMOWERS
AFTER SETTTING UP DURING WINTER
