WEEDEATER COMMON PROBLEMS AND CHECKS                     18
THERE ARE THREE THINGS THAT COMMONLY GO WRONG WITH WEEDEATERS

1.Over time the fuel lines will deteriorate ,causing carburetor to suck air instead of fuel,
the primer bubble will also deteriorate.
2. ON THE CHEAPER MODELS, the cylinder will actually loosen up, causing a loss of
compression, to check grab the carburetor assembly and try to wiggle it, if it moves look
to see if actual cylinder is moving, this type of problem occurs after two or three years
of service, you will need a set of long, or T HANDLE Allen wrenches, and in some cases
the bolts they use are star or torx type bolts or screws. If cylinder is loose, the engine
will run erratic, loss of power, no idle or in some cases not at all.
ALWAYS CHANGE SPARK PLUG EVERY SEASON, SINCE YOU ARE BURNING AN OIL GAS
MIXTURE.
NOTE; On your fuel lines, if you replace them, there are two or three different sizes for
these type small engines. It is best to take a line or piece with you, when you buy to make
sure you get the right size.

3.FINALLY THE MOST COMMON PROBLEM THEY ALL HAVE, HOMELITE, STIHL, POULAN,
HUSKY,whatever you have. After some time of usage, since you are burning oil gas
mixture, carbon has to build up somewhere, and that place is in the exhaust or muffler.
Inside the muffler on most of these engines is a screen that looks almost like a piece of
window screen from off your house, its called a spark arrestor and it will get clogged
with carbon, causing your engine to bog, loss of power, or not run at all.
TOfix you will have to take exhaust apart, usually its held by two bolts or sometimes
springs hold in together, at any rate you must get inside of muffler and either remove
screen or clean screen, also sometimes you will notice exhaust port on the head of
engine will be extremely carboned up, you will need to clean this carbon out by usually
chipping or scraping out with a screw driver.

ALSO ONE FINAL NOTE, DEPENDING ON WHAT YOU PAID FOR YOUR WEEDEATER,
SHOULD BE YOUR DETERMINING FACTOR ON WHERE YOU WANT TO PUT IT IN SHOP OR
NOT. IF YOU HAVE ONE OF THE CHEAPOS, UNDER $100 AND HAVE RECEIVED TWO OR
THREE YEARS USAGE, YOU MIGHT CONSIDER GETTING A NEW ONE.
